Earlier this year, the CFPC warned consumers in a consumer advisory bulletin that the lack of insurance for funds stored in popular apps like Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or Zelle is a financial risk. Despite resembling banks with their services and products, these non bank payment apps often fail to offer the same protections as insured banks and credit unions.
