Just One Resource - CALCULATE: Completing a 1040
In this weekly blog post, the Curriculum team will highlight Just One Resource from our NGPF collection that maybe doesn't get the attention it deserves. Use it this week or bookmark it for later. |
[The Resource] CALCULATE: Completing a 1040
The Gist: Students practice filling out a 1040 form to file a tax return!
The Best Parts:
- Students will file the 1040 for 4 different individuals, each with their own profile and situation.
- Students can practice reading a W-2 for each individual and translating it to the respective section on the 1040
- By the end of the activity, students will be experts in determining whether or not a person will owe money or will receive a refund for the tax year!
BONUS: Our entire Taxes Unit has been updated to reflect changes made by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017! Wondering what major tax changes you need to know about for your students? Watch this short video created by NGPF co-founder, Jessica!
