In this new weekly blog post, the Curriculum team will highlight Just One Resource from our NGPF collection that maybe doesn't get the attention it deserves. Use it this week or bookmark it for later.

[The Resource] RESEARCH: Finding Scholarships & Grants

The Gist: With the beginning of the new school year upon us, this is the prime time for high school seniors to begin exploring scholarships and grants for college. This research activity guides students to think critically about which scholarship and grant opportunities are best for them.

The Best Parts:

  • At the bottom of the activity, there are 19 links of helpful sites to streamline students’ search for financial help, such as state-based, subject specific, ethnic background, and  more types of grants and scholarships.
  • Students are asked to self-identify attributes like personal background, as well as academic and extracurricular strengths to help narrow down the search.
  • Searching for scholarships and grants can be overwhelming for students who are unsure of various ways they are eligible for. This activity helps narrow their search to maximize their chance of receiving the award that are tailored to their strengths!
