Congrats to the First Cohort of ASU Risk Management for Educators Course!
Please help NGPF congratulate the FIRST cohort of participants for ASU’s Risk Management for Educators graduate course! After having already completed NGPF’s Credit and Insurance certification courses, these participants were awarded NGPF scholarships to be able to take the graduate course with Arizona State University because of their dedication to personal finance education.
This fall, the Arizona State University W. P. Carey School of Business partnered with NGPF to create a personal finance certificate program for K-12 teachers, allowing them to earn college credit for professional development.
The program consists of two online courses: Investment Management for Educators (3 credits), which focuses on a framework for planning and implementing investment strategies, and Risk Management for Educators (3 credits), which focuses on identifying, measuring, and mitigating sources of risk.
See who completed the first cohort of the ASU Investment Management for Educators Course.
Here is what some participants had to say about their experience:
"I really enjoyed the different instructors at ASU and the perspectives and expertise they brought to different areas of risk management."
- Ann Hamil in KS
"I learned so much that can benefit not only myself in my personal financial goals, but information I can share with coworkers and students. I am so glad I took the time to apply for this truly worthwhile opportunity. I am looking forward to continuing with a second course and hope that NGPF and ASU are able to provide more in the future."
-Carrie Forsythe in CA
"I loved the quality of the examples in the lessons! The analogies really helped me to make connections and have ways to explain the concepts to my students."
-Tammy Andrew in CT
"The course layout was easy to follow, the curriculum was well-structured, and the instructors were highly knowledgeable. They made difficult concepts easy to understand with activities and real world examples. What I learned goes beyond just teaching – it's helping me show students how to make smart money choices. I highly recommend this course to fellow educators.”
-Shawn Brigham in TX
