Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious asset: your time. It's time for you to receive the recognition and rewards that you deserve which is why we are launching NGPF Academy today.

FAQs

1. What is NGPF Academy?
NGPF Academy recognizes and rewards teachers for participating in NGPF Professional Development activities. For each hour of professional development, a teacher earns one NGPF Academy credit. Teachers receive rewards for attaining certain credit levels.

2. How can I register for the events that will help me earn NGPF Academy credits?
Click on the chart below to register for the specific events:
    PD Hours by Event
Note:
  • NGPF FinCamp PLUS events are currently at capacity for summer of 2019
  • NGPF may add additional PD opportunities/formats during the year

3. Is there a cost to participate in any NGPF Professional Development activities?
No. We are committed to providing curriculum and professional development at no cost. Our mission is to ensure that ALL students receive this education. NGPF is supported by an endowment created by its co-founder.

4. What are the rewards for participating in NGPF Academy?
Other than what teachers call "the best PD that I have ever attended?"  Educators will receive NGPF swag such as stickers, FinCap Friday hats, NGPF tote bags, and NGPF Swell water bottles as they achieve each of these credit levels:
  • Freshman (10 credits)
  • Sophomore (20 credits)
  • Junior (30 credits)
  • Senior (40 credits)
In addition, all educators who achieve Senior status by May of 2020 will be entered into a drawing to attend NGPF's First User Conference planned for the summer of 2020. NGPF will cover the travel and hotel costs for the 100 educators selected through this drawing process.

5. When can I start earning credits for NGPF Academy?
NGPF Academy's academic year starts June 1, 2019, and ends May 31, 2020, so you can start to earn credits for any professional development activities you attend after June 1st, 2019.

6. Are there capacity limits for NGPF PD events?
Yes. In order to ensure a quality experience for all we typically limit the number of attendees for the following events:
  • NGPF Virtual FinCamps: 25-30
  • NGPF Virtual PDs: 40-50
  • NGPF FinCamps (in-person): 70-80
  • NGPF Webinars: 150-200
7. Do I need to track my own credit hours? How frequently will I receive progress updates from NGPF Academy?
  • No. You don't need to track your own credit hours.
  • You can expect to receive NGPF Academy quarterly progress updates beginning in September of 2019. (You will continue to receive PD certificates following each individual event which you can keep for your own records.)
8. What other recognition will participants receive?
Each year, NGPF will recognize leading educators in the NGPF Academy in a press release and blog post.

9. Will my hours carry over in future years?
No. Your credit hours will reset to 0 starting on June 1, 2020, when the new NGPF Academy academic year will start.

10. What about the hours that I have accumulated to date?
We appreciate your commitment to financial education and your participation in previous NGPF professional development activities. This is a new program where you can accumulate credits starting with any activity after June 1st, 2019.

11. Do I need to sign up for NGPF Academy?

About the Author

Tim Ranzetta

Tim's saving habits started at seven when a neighbor with a broken hip gave him a dog walking job. Her recovery, which took almost a year, resulted in Tim getting to know the bank tellers quite well (and accumulating a savings account balance of over $300!). His recent entrepreneurial adventures have included driving a shredding truck, analyzing executive compensation packages for Fortune 500 companies and helping families make better college financing decisions. After volunteering in 2010 to create and teach a personal finance program at Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto, Tim saw firsthand the impact of an engaging and activity-based curriculum, which inspired him to start a new non-profit, Next Gen Personal Finance.
