Question of the Day: What is the cost to repair an iPhone screen?

That accidental crack is going to set you back.

Answer: $29 to $379

Questions:

  • Have you damaged your phone in the last year? If so, have you gotten it repaired?
  • The cost of AppleCare+ is either a one-time fee of $199 or $10 per month. If you want loss and theft protection too, it’s $269 or $13.49 per month. Is having this insurance a “good deal?” Explain your thinking.
  • Do you carry cell phone insurance? Why or why not?

Here are the ready-to-go slides for this Question of the Day you can use in your classroom.

Behind the numbers (Consumer Reports):

Have a cracked screen on your 15 Pro Max? Your friendly neighborhood Apple Store will replace it for $379, which is $50 more than it costs to repair the screen on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. A new screen and back glass? That will set you back about $499. And if you need the 15 Pro Max’s rear camera fixed, that’ll cost about $249.
