NGPF’s 2023 State of Financial Education Report

In the past year, Personal Finance courses have become a top priority for more schools, districts, and states than ever before. With 6 new states joining the previous 11 in taking action, an additional 1.6 million high school students will be guaranteed to take a Personal Finance course prior to graduation.

Thanks to action in 17 states, 40.5% of U.S. high school students will be guaranteed to take a Personal Finance course

Since NGPF’s 2022 State of Financial Education Report was published in April 2022, 6 more states added Personal Finance graduation requirements of at least one semester. A total of 17 states now have this policy in place or are in the process of implementing for future school years.
